Among hymns I am the Brihat-Sama; among meters I am Gayatri. Among months I am Margashirsha; among seasons I am spring.
What this verse means
Krishna says he is the finest sacred chant, the most revered meter, the best month, and the season of spring.
Context & commentary
On the battlefield, Krishna keeps expanding Arjuna's vision of where he can be found. After naming death, memory, and speech as his forms, he now points to sacred sound, time, and the turning of the seasons. The teaching is that nothing beautiful or ordered stands outside him.
Why this verse still matters
You hear a hymn in a temple and feel your chest soften. You notice first rain after a dry stretch and something in you wakes up. Krishna says that recognition is not accidental.
